Robert Crego                                                                                                  Executive Director

Bob joined Southern VT AHEC as its Executive Director in November 2018.  He has worked in community development for nearly 30 years, largely working with nonprofits in the areas strategic and business planning, finance and asset management, program development and management, and grant writing.  Over the years, Bob has obtained over $30 million in public and private grant funding, primarily for affordable housing, education and health care-related projects. Bob received a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, and a B.A. in History from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.  Robert can be reached at or 802-885-2126, ext. 104.

Finance Manager
Karen has been with Southern VT AHEC since 1999 where she started as Administrative Assistant.  In addition to her duties as Finance Manager, Karen also administers the Primary Care Educational Loan Repayment Program.  Karen received her degree in psychology from the Community College of Vermont.  Karen can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 101, or


Joan Devine
Health Careers Educator
Joan has a BSN in nursing and joined Southern Vermont AHEC in January, 2018.  Joan provides health careers exploration programming to students interested in pursuing a health-related career.  She collaborates with and supports community partners who advocate students and health professions training.  Prior to joining us, Joan was the pediatric outreach nurse for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.  Joan can be reached at 802-885-2126, ext. 103 or

Administrative Assistant
Doreen received her degree from Stone School of Business in New Haven, Connecticut.  She has been with Southern Vermont AHEC since 2010.  She formerly worked as the Administrative Assistant for seven years at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, VT and was also the Assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.  Doreen can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 102, or

Health Professions Resource Coordinator
Susan develops, coordinates and evaluates health care student projects; organizes continuing education programs for health care professionals; leads the annual survey of primary care practices in Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Windsor and Windham counties; and looks for opportunities to support rural primary care practices and practitioners, and students enrolled in health professions programs in Vermont.  She received her B.A. in Political Science from Macalester College and previously worked in membership and alumni development at nonprofits and educational organizations.  Susan can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 105, or
