Marty has served as Executive Director for Southern Vermont AHEC since 2011, before which she was the Health Careers Coordinator.  She holds both a B.A. and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Vermont.  She has prior experience as the Coordinator of the River Connection Regional Partnership and in several positions at the Springfield Area Parent Child Center.  Marty can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 204, or

Karen has been with Southern VT AHEC since 1999 where she started as Administrative Assistant.  In addition to her duties as Finance Manager, Karen also administers the Primary Care Educational Loan Repayment Program.  Karen received her degree in psychology from the Community College of Vermont.  Karen can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 201, or


Joan Devine
Health Careers Educator
Joan has a BSN in nursing and joined Southern Vermont AHEC in January, 2018.  Joan provides health careers exploration programming to students interested in pursuing a health-related career.  She collaborates with and supports community partners who advocate students and health professions training.  Prior to joining us, Joan was the pediatric outreach nurse for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.  Joan can be reached at 802-885-2126, ext. 203 or

Administrative Assistant
Doreen received her degree from Stone School of Business in New Haven, Connecticut.  She has been with Southern Vermont AHEC since 2010.  She formerly worked as the Administrative Assistant for seven years at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, VT and was also the Assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.  Doreen can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 202, or

Health Professions Resource Coordinator
Susan develops, coordinates and evaluates health care student projects; organizes continuing education programs for health care professionals; leads the annual survey of primary care practices in Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Windsor and Windham counties; and looks for opportunities to support rural primary care practices and practitioners, and students enrolled in health professions programs in Vermont.  She received her B.A. in Political Science from Macalester College and previously worked in membership and alumni development at nonprofits and educational organizations.  Susan can be reached at 802-885-2126 ext. 205, or
