Health Professions Students

Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center seeks to support students who are on a health professions career track.  SVAHEC provides internship opportunities to students in an undergraduate program and community projects and clinical rotation support to nurse practitioner, social work students and students from the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont.  Click on the links to the left for more information about these programs!

C-SHIP is an Internship program for students enrolled in post-secondary education with intent to pursue a career in health care. Internships are paid, 100 hours maximum, and can be completed over a summer, or summer and fall.

Third year students at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont can get an opportunity to explore Vermont rural health through a clinical rotation. Support is provided to UVM Primary Care, Nursing and Social Work Students.

Southern Vermont AHEC can offer support to UVM medical, social work and nurse practitioner students who wish to carry out a two week community immersion project in any of the southern five counties.

The Vermont Educational Loan Repayment for Healthcare Professionals, established by the Vermont General Assembly, is to help insure a stable supply of primary care providers to meet the health care needs of Vermonters. This program is administered by AHEC. Find out more.

Students in graduate-level health professions programs of study are invited to apply for MedQuest Mentor positions for the summer MedQuest programs.  SVAHEC has 6-8 positions open each summer.  Applications are due in March.  Visit the MedQuest page for more information.
